Swede Hanson
Principal | Founder
He is not from Minnesota and no, he is not related to Swede Hanson, the American professional wrestler who spent much of his career wrestling as a heel, winning the 1968 NWA Atlantic Coast Tag Team Championship with Rip Hawk.
This Swede Hanson is just a guy born and raised in Dallas, Texas who over a 19-year real estate career, has developed expertise in multiple facets of real estate including development, project leasing, distressed note sales and financing.
Swede became keenly aware of the disparity in housing within Dallas back in 2018 through personal experiences his father had running a faith based non-profit in West Dallas. Those experiences shaped his perspective and led him to develop SLR in an effort to utilize his God given gifts, abilities and knowledge in a way that might challenge the traditional development model and incrementally chip away at the housing crises.
He recently served as a Senior Vice President within Bank OZK’s Real Estate Specialties Group where he oversaw a team of six responsible for a $4.0 billion portfolio of commercial real estate construction and bridge loans with complex capital structures located in major markets across the United States. Prior to joining Bank OZK in April 2014, Swede spent four years in the greater New York City area. During his time in the northeast, he worked in Manhattan for Credit Suisse Securities in its conduit CMBS platform and within JLL’s Capital Markets group as a member of the Mortgage Brokerage and Loan Sale Divisions where he coordinated underwriting efforts for either the origination or disposition of commercial real estate debt.
Swede holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University.
